Pareto FM has an exciting opportunity for a Resident Maintenance Engineer to join the team supporting a prestigious and unique client site – the English National Ballet in Canary Wharf. This role is based at one dedicated client site, giving you the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the building and its plant systems, without the need for regular travel between locations.
Working as part of the engineering team, you’ll be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards.
The Role
As a Resident Maintenance Engineer, you will support the contract management team with the day-to-day maintenance of building services systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical building systems and plant
- Fault finding across plant, equipment and building services systems
- Responding to BMS alarms and carrying out first-line diagnostics
- Supporting specialist contractors when they attend site for service visits or repairs
- Ensuring plant rooms and engineering areas remain safe, clean and compliant
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, logbooks and compliance documentation
- Updating simPRO systems and attaching photographic evidence of completed works
- Supporting safe operation of plant including start-up, shutdown and plant changeovers
- Monitoring environmental conditions via HVAC systems
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards or risks to management
- Communicating maintenance activities with both the client and internal teams
You will also carry out regular building walk‑rounds to ensure plant and systems are operating correctly and that health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Working Hours
08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday. Additional out‑of‑hours overtime may be required depending on business and client needs. Overtime is not guaranteed. No on‑call rota at this time.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working across building services systems and can operate independently while remaining part of a collaborative engineering team. You should have:
- Experience working within Facilities Management or Building Services
- A strong background in planned and reactive maintenance
- Experience fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems
- Good communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
- The ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
- A proactive, safety‑first mindset
Qualifications & Technical Skills
Essential
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
- Strong knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
Desirable
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
- IOSH Working Safely
- IPAF / PASMA
- Unvented hot water systems training
- Experience with BMS, generators, HVAC plant, lighting systems, drainage and water systems
- Knowledge of ACOP L8 / water systems
- High Voltage systems experience
