  • Purpose of the Role

The Foot Mobile Maintenance Engineer is responsible for delivering both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the contract.

The role supports the Contract Supervisor and Management Team by ensuring the client's mechanical and electrical assets are maintained in a safe, compliant, efficient and fully operational condition.

The postholder will be organised, proactive and capable of working independently or as part of a team, responding effectively to emergency situations whilst delivering high levels of customer service.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Planned & Reactive Maintenance
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintain the client's plant, equipment and associated building services in a safe and operational condition.
  • Complete maintenance, repair and minor installation works as directed by the Contract Supervisor or Management.
  • Utilise the Building Management System (BMS) for first-line diagnostics and alarm response.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Asset Management
  • Maintain and repair a wide range of building services plant and equipment including:
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Pumps
  • Generators
  • Switchgear
  • Lighting systems
  • Small power
  • Controls
  • Ventilation systems
  • Water systems

Maintain comfortable environmental conditions through effective operation of HVAC plant.

  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete all Sim PRO instruction sets accurately.
  • Ensure every maintenance task is fully recorded with supporting photographs where required.
  • Maintain accurate site logbooks and statutory maintenance records.

  • Report any issues preventing completion of statutory maintenance to the Contract Supervisor and Management.

  • Isolate equipment and make systems safe where necessary.
  • Confirm dead testing and de-pressurisation of systems before work commences.

Maintain a full working knowledge of all plant and systems under your responsibility, including:

  • Plant preparation
  • Normal and emergency start-up procedures
  • Routine operational checks
  • Plant changeover procedures
  • Normal and emergency shutdown procedures
  • Fault finding
  • Optimising plant run times
  • Site Inspections

Carry out regular housekeeping inspections to ensure

  • Plant rooms remain clean and tidy.
  • No Health & Safety hazards exist.
  • Plant is operating in accordance with building specifications.
  • Any defects are reported promptly.
  • Communication & Customer Service
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and building occupiers.
  • Maintain professional, courteous and effective communication at all times.
  • Inform the Contract Supervisor and Business Support team of work progress.
  • Communicate any operational impact before maintenance activities commence.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practice with colleagues.
  • Promote effective teamwork across engineering teams.
  • Subcontractor Management
  • Monitor subcontractor performance whilst working on site.
  • Ensure specialist works are completed safely and to the required standard.
  • Report any concerns regarding subcontractor performance to Management.
  • Emergency Response

Immediately report to the Contract Supervisor or Account Manager

Assist in responding to emergency situations to minimise disruption and protect personnel and assets.

  • Work additional hours, evenings, weekends and public holidays where business requirements dictate.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Contract Supervisor or Management.
  • Support continuous improvement across the contract.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • City & Guilds Level III (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
  • City & Guilds Level III (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Good knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and safe working practices.
  • Experience in maintenance, fault finding and testing of building services equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service focus.
