Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Facilities Management
Location: Chertsey, Surrey
Electrical Bias | Commercial Facilities Management
43-45k
About the role
We’re looking for a qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities Management engineering team, supporting a prestigious, globally recognised client within a modern and high-profile working environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established on-site engineering team, taking responsibility for planned and reactive electrical maintenance while helping to maintain an exceptional environment for our client and their employees.
You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied range of electrical and building-services systems, with the support of experienced engineering colleagues around you.
If you're currently working as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Electrician, Electrical Building Services Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical bias, and have experience within FM or commercial building maintenance, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance
- Electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repairs
- Maintaining power distribution, lighting, emergency systems and associated plant
- Completing electrical replacements, remedial works and minor upgrades
- Carrying out inspections and testing and maintaining accurate records
- Ensuring electrical work complies with BS 7671 and relevant UK regulations
- Responding to faults and helping minimise disruption to the client's operations
- Maintaining accurate job, maintenance and compliance records
- Liaising with colleagues, contractors and the wider Facilities Management team
- Providing technical electrical support where required
- Supporting wider building-services maintenance activities within your competency
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with practical, hands-on electrical maintenance experience gained within Facilities Management, building services or a commercial environment.
You'll need:
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Electrical Installation, or an equivalent recognised electrical qualification
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good knowledge of electrical regulations and safe systems of work
- Experience working with electrical systems within commercial buildings
- Confidence working independently while contributing to a wider engineering team
- Full UK driving licence
18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge or certification would be highly desirable.
We're particularly interested in engineers coming from commercial offices, corporate environments, hospitality, retail, leisure or other high-quality facilities environments.
Your team
You won't be working in isolation.
You'll join an established team of five engineers, including:
- 2 Electrical Engineers
- 1 M&E Engineer
- 1 Plumbing Engineer
- 1 Fabric Engineer
You'll also have support from an experienced Technical Lead and Senior Operations Manager, giving you access to both technical and operational support when you need it.
Callout
The role participates in an out-of-hours callout rota of approximately 1 week in 5, with a £200 standby payment, in addition to applicable callout payments.
Training & progression
We want our engineers to continue developing their careers rather than simply doing the same job year after year.
You'll have access to additional training across other engineering disciplines, giving you the opportunity to broaden your technical knowledge and become increasingly multi-skilled.
There is also succession planning within the team for future Technical Supervisor and Technical Lead positions, providing a genuine route into more senior technical and leadership roles.
Why join us?
Alongside joining an experienced and supportive engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work within a prestigious, modern and high-profile client environment for a globally recognised brand.
You’ll have the autonomy to take ownership of your work while having technical and operational support around you, together with opportunities to broaden your skills and progress your career.
If you're a qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking for your next opportunity within Facilities Management, we'd love to hear from you.
I think that opening is much stronger. “Prestigious, globally recognised client within a modern and high-profile working environment” sells some of the Netflix attraction without getting anywhere near revealing who the client is.
