About the Role
Sowga, part of the Pareto FM Group, is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong M&E and HVAC background to join our growing Projects team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership of projects from pre‑construction through to completion and handover.
Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial, corporate, and specialist environments, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical, electrical, and HVAC projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Operating within a fast‑paced MEP contractor environment, you'll work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining exceptional customer service and technical excellence.
The Role
As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for managing multiple M&E and HVAC projects throughout the South Business Unit, predominantly across London.
You will oversee the full project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, delivery, commissioning, financial management, and handover, while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, company procedures, and client requirements.
This role offers significant autonomy and would suit someone who thrives in a varied environment where no two projects are the same.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Taking full ownership of assigned M&E and HVAC projects from inception through to completion
- Planning and managing project programmes, budgets, resources, and timelines
- Coordinating installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers, specialist contractors, and site teams
- Preparing and reviewing RAMS, construction documentation, and project plans
- Monitoring project costs, expenditure, forecasts, and financial performance
- Managing project variations, valuations, change control, and commercial correspondence
- Liaising with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Chairing project meetings and providing clear progress updates
- Procuring materials, plant, and subcontract services
- Managing project risks and implementing mitigation strategies
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company procedures
- Maintaining quality standards throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinating production of O&M manuals and as‑built documentation
- Managing snagging, defect resolution, and final handover activities
- Supporting workforce planning and resource allocation
- Mentoring and supporting site teams and junior project staff
- Producing project reports and updates for senior management
- Driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering M&E and/or HVAC projects as a Project Manager
- Strong background within Building Services, MEP, or Facilities Management projects
- Experience managing projects from pre‑construction through to commissioning and handover
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
- Proven budget management, cost control, and commercial awareness
- Experience working on live operational sites
- Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of building services drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CDM requirements
- Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning, snagging, and handover processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software
- Preferred Qualifications
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- CSCS Card
- First Aid Qualification
