Flexible role to offer sickness and holiday cover to ensure service delivery is maintained at all times. To conform to the cleaning specification and schedules and carry out cleaning duties as required with a view to continuously develop and improve quality standards. To take a direct interest in the health and safety of yourself, your colleagues, and others who may be affected by your work activities.
Key duties:
- Carry out cleaning tasks as required by the contract specification and Supervisor with agreed timescales.
- Be punctual and attend for duty as requested.
- Achieve the highest standard of work, with a positive team spirit.
- Continuously develop and improve quality standards.
- Meet managers, clients, and company expectations.
- Respond to any reasonable request of the company or client.
- Ensure that products, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and stored.
- Use your initiative to resolve problems where appropriate.
- Ensure that your appearance and conduct comply with the expectations of the company and the appropriate clothing / PPE is always worn.
- Communicate any unresolved cleaning issues.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Essential awareness/knowledge of Health & Safety issues.
- Experience within interpersonal skills when dealing with client personnel and at all levels, using tact and diplomacy to get co-operation.
- Responsible for checking on the quality of their work and supervising less experienced staff when required.
- Responsible for the care of tools while in use, whether the property belongs to the client or Pareto.
- Confidentiality is required on all matters pertaining to Pareto and the client.
- The quality of the post holder’s work can have an indirect effect on animal care.
Communication:
- Communication is oral/written and mostly internal with the site manager and client’s staff.
- Liaison with contractors working inside the client’s sites or areas of responsibility, and at times with visitors.
- The client’s image can be affected by the job holder’s dealings with visitors and the media.
Mental Demands:
- Work is allocated to the job holder who decides how to tackle it, sometimes with the help of specifications.
- Routine decisions are made daily based on personal experience, own initiative or following discussions with the client’s appointed contact.
- Many tasks involve original thought and common problems are usually technical in nature.
- High level of concentration is required when working on machinery and specific detail needs to be paid to Health & Safety guidelines.
- Extra concentration and due diligence to Health and Safety and locking procedures are required, especially when working in or around any animal enclosure.
Flexibility:
- Tasks cover a wide range of activities with variable interruptions from internal sources.
- The post holder may be asked to carry out tasks outside of their general duties.
Working Conditions:
- Required to work in a variety of conditions, including outside, in the presence of animals and adverse weather conditions.
- Exposed to dirt, personal risk, noise, and pollution.
