The Opportunity
Pareto FM is looking for a skilled and proactive Fabric Technician to join our on‑site team at a prestigious client location in the heart of London's West End. This is a site‑based role responsible for carrying out a wide range of fabric maintenance, repair, installation, and improvement works across the building. The Role
As a Fabric Technician, you'll undertake both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the site, supporting the wider engineering team and ensuring building assets remain in excellent condition. You’ll be responsible for investigating maintenance requests, identifying materials and resources required, carrying out repairs, and ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard. This is a hands‑on role that requires strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues and site stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive fabric maintenance works across the site.
- Complete repairs, installations, refurbishments, and general building fabric tasks.
- Investigate maintenance issues and determine the most effective repair solutions.
- Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications where required.
- Liaise with supervisors, engineers, contractors, and client representatives to coordinate works.
- Undertake urgent maintenance and repair tasks as required.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working order.
- Report any defects, hazards, or issues to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Assist with training and supporting less experienced team members where required.
- Maintain accurate records of completed works.
- Ensure work areas are left safe, clean, and compliant following completion of tasks.
- Support the wider engineering team with maintenance activities when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification in Fabric Maintenance, Carpentry, or a related trade.
- Experience within building maintenance, construction, or facilities management environments.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Strong practical maintenance and repair skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional and flexible approach to work.
Desirable
- PASMA certification.
- IPAF certification.
- Experience working within complex or specialist operational environments.
Team & Support
You'll report directly to the Engineering Supervisor and work closely alongside the site's engineering team. You'll receive ongoing support from supervisors and the wider Pareto FM contract team, ensuring you have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in the role.
Hours & Location
Site-based role. Berkeley Square, London, W1. 40 hours per week. Typically 8:00am – 5:00pm. Working hours may vary depending on client requirements.
