Join the Pareto.AI team to contribute to Project Mercury, an AI training initiative focused on teaching models how to solve real academic problems accurately and step-by-step. In this role you will identify, extract and transcribe problem‑solution pairs from STEM educational materials, converting equations and solutions into precise LaTeX-formatted outputs. The resulting data directly supports the development of more capable, reliable, and aligned AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Identify valid problem–solution pairs from provided educational resources (e.g., STEM textbooks).
- Extract and transcribe problem–solution pairs accurately.
- Transcribe equations and mathematical expressions into LaTeX, including the final answer.
- Ensure the expected output is complete and correctly formatted.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and comfort with structured, repetitive accuracy work.
- Support the project with an expected contribution of ~10 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Background or familiarity with Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or STEM subjects.
- Prior experience with transcription, annotation, or academic content is a plus.
- Comfort working with equations and symbolic notation.
- Strong attention to detail, organized work style, and ability to meet quality standards.
Compensation
Up to $75/hour for complex tasks during the main project phase (subject to change).
