This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in Early Years, training with Parenta. You will be working in an NURSERY setting based in COTTAM, PR4 0NY. Become an apprentice in one of our fun and friendly settings working with children aged from birth to five years gaining experience while you learn. Parenta have many opportunities available and offer you the chance to ‘Earn as you Learn’ whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. The best part? There is no need to attend offsite training, all your learning will be completed at your workplace!

About the role

The moment your journey begins as an apprentice:

  • You become an employed member of staff
  • You will be paid an hourly rate
  • You will work towards gaining a full qualification, getting full support and attend virtual classroom-based lessons

The apprenticeship will last a minimum of 12 months. You will be working towards achieving the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification. An Apprenticeship course will take between 12 to 20 months based on 30 hours worked per week. Less hours worked will increase the course duration. Throughout your role you are not alone. Parenta offer you full training, support, guidance and are here to help you progress your career. You even have a personal tutor assigned to you from the moment you start your journey as an apprentice.

Working pattern

Hours: 25 hours a week, varied shifts between 7:30am-6pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging, age appropriate activities aligned to the EYFS
  • Assist with daily routines including mealtimes, toileting, and sleep/quiet times
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive environment; follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures
  • Observe children’s learning and contribute to keyperson records under supervision
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues
  • Contribute to a high-quality caring environment for children, creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.

Requirements

  • Have access to your own transport or able to reliably commute via public transport
  • Have access to a laptop or computer with internet access
  • Been a resident within the UK for a minimum of 3 years to qualify for government funding
  • Be passionate about caring for children
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths is required for the qualification to be valid; if you do not hold this qualification, you will be required to complete Functional Skills alongside the course with our specialist functional skills tutors.

Pay and Progression

The role is for an Apprenticeship: Starting pay: £8.00 per hour (Apprentice Minimum Wage) - dependent on experience. Progression: If aged 19+ and continuing beyond the first year, pay will increase to at least the applicable age related National Minimum Wage from year two. Performance and annual reviews may apply thereafter.
