We know hardware is a jungle of chaos. Every device has quirks, every vendor hides secrets. To unify them, we need clean abstractions. We seek a Driver HAL Engineer to build the Hardware Abstraction Layer, the keel that keeps the ship steady. Your mission is to make SP hardware-agnostic and hardware-ready. To design and implement the HAL across x86, ARM, and RISC-V, enabling portability without compromise. As a crew member you will design HALs that tame vendor idiosyncrasies, unify interfaces, and give the kernel a clean, reliable path to devices. Where vendors divide, you will unify. Where they obfuscate, you will clarify. Your HAL will ensure SP runs consistently across laptops all platforms without compromise or hidden blobs. You are the architect of the invisible. Key responsibilities Design and maintain HAL frameworks for Umbrella OS. Abstract device-specific code into clean interfaces. Collaborate with driver and kernel engineers for integration. Ensure HALs remain lightweight, open, and auditable. Deep knowledge of hardware APIs and OS driver frameworks. Low-level C programming. Experience in embedded systems or OS portability projects.
