Job Description
The Nova Scotia Placement Pass Nurse (LPN) will practice in accordance with legislation and the standards as determined by their regulatory body and the practice setting. The Placement Pass nurse will have the knowledge to assess, select, implement, and evaluate a wide range of nursing interventions to ensure consistent safe, competent, and ethical care. Placement Pass Program nurses provide a review and determination as to whether a student has met the criteria for placement based on pre-established standards and protocols of the student’s clinical program.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Provides respectful, empathetic, and knowledgeable customer support.

Assesses and determines student submission outcomes by applying the most current Canadian

immunization Standards, NACI Guidelines, Canadian TB Standards, and applicable provincial protocols.

Engages the student using a collaborative approach, building rapport and trust, achieving a mutual understanding and agreement.

Listens to the student and seeks assistance when the situation is outside of the employee authority

Participates in necessary training sessions and team meetings with the Requisite program team

Maintains the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, efficient, effective care in all areas of practice by keeping abreast of changes in practice setting that affect scope of practice.

Maintains professional student records in compliance with ParaMed’s policies and the standards applied by the regulatory body or Nursing college.

Shows respect for cultural needs, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of students.

Applies federal and provincial consent and privacy principles in all Requisite Program interactions

Assumes professional responsibility, thinks critically, demonstrates practical knowledge, engages in professional development, manages own practice and advocates within system on students’ behalf.

Acts as an ambassador for ParaMed when interacting with students and educational partnership contacts.

Connects students with appropriate ParaMed resources when inquiring about services and employment opportunities. Health and Safety policies

Preform student orientations to new student\’s virtually with the college.

Respond to email inquiries to students and colleges as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Registration/licensing with provincial regulatory college in good standing as an RPN

Preferably has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a practicing RegisteredPractical Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse ideally in a medical clinic or, in an educational capacity, or in a community setting

Must reside in Nova Scotia
