About The Role
We are currently looking for a Machinist, the ideal candidate will have Vertical Boring machining experience but not essential as full training can be provided for the right candidate. You will be required to machine centrifugally spun castings for the Aerospace and Power Generation industries, in a range of stainless alloys to machine drawings.
Principal Accountabilities
- Machining and setting of large castings to drawings and to tolerance specified..
- Ensure production is carried out to meet time frames set.
- Dimensional inspection of machined castings.
- Marking up of swarf drums (alloy identification).
- To work as part of a team with minimum supervision.
- Working safely throughout all activities in line with FVC’s safety standards and procedures.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and translate these into producing dimensionally correct components.
- Must be attentive to detail
- An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Able to operate on your own initiative, but also able to contribute in a team environment.
- Flexible attitude towards work and overtime, including shift working.
- A good understanding of health & safety, environmental issues and quality rules.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
