About The Role

Principle Function:

  • To provide an effective testing and analytical service to the plant ensuring that the products manufactured are tested to specification on time and plant quality, cost and safety goals are met.
  • To prepare and test metal samples for chemical analysis.
  • Change calculations / metal stack control

Duties & Responsibilities

Chemical Analysis

  • Prepare cast samples in suitable manner for testing.
  • Operation of ARL Spectrometer & LECO oxygen and nitrogen determinator.
  • Prepare reports ( Daily, weekly,monthly) to departments KPI’s.
  • Analyse test results and make decisions on results inline with relevant contract QC documentation.
  • Daily equipment standardisation.
  • Understand effects of chemical results & apply corrective and preventative actions.

Charge Calculations

  • Calculation of charges to least cost mix using Optimat System.
  • Printing documentation for shop floor QC.
  • Reporting on daily, weekly monthly to departments KPI’s

Material Control

  • Responsible for data entry of internal and external generated materials into Optimat.
  • Checking quality of materials – fitness for use, safety for use (No damp, oily, greasy contaminated materials)
  • Raw material control
  • Stock level control.
  • Reporting on daily, weekly monthly to departments KPI’s

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Good communication skills.
  • PC Literate – Word, Excel
  • Basic understanding of quality issues.
  • Good level of mathematical knowledge.
  • Accuracy in measurements.
  • Analysing data/results.
  • Good level of English for reporting purposes.
  • Good investigation skills.

Preferable

  • Manual handling training.
  • Basic understanding on HS&E issues.
  • Housekeeping (5’s)
  • Experience in metals industry.
