About the Role

We are looking for an experienced individual who has worked within a heavy industry, with a background in automation and process controls. This key role in the Maintenance Department reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for planning and organising a team of multiskilled maintenance engineers. The role is hands-on with a focus on continuous improvement, and involves championing design and specification aspects on new capital projects, process improvements or re-engineering existing systems. It also supports electrical, mechanical and multiskilled technicians to service and fault-find on existing systems and equipment.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Supervise and carry out maintenance work activities to ensure optimal long-term availability of all plant, preserve the value of assets and meet health, safety and environmental obligations along with financial targets.
  • Plan and execute all electrical maintenance activities efficiently, working closely with the Engineering Manager to promote productivity at all Paralloy Ltd sites.
  • Supervise a team of technicians (and contractors on occasion) ensuring high performance across planned, preventive and reactive maintenance, problem diagnosis, corrective action, repair, replacement and testing of site equipment and systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns across all sites during normal hours and outside normal working hours, demonstrating flexible working practices.
  • Control, maintain and repair all PLC, SCADA, HMI and drives across the sites, including critical spares, program backups, site training and development.
  • Attend meetings on Teams and daily face-to-face with maintenance and production departments to review workloads, plan corrective actions, and provide feedback and data entry to establish maintenance KPIs displayed on dashboards for managerial meetings.
  • Assist with the Engineering Manager to create and maintain the department budget and finance objectives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • Establish and enforce expectations related to safety, compliance, corrective actions and appropriate work behaviours. Maintain the highest standards of health and safety within the working environment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum HNC; preferred degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in heavy industry with supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in PLC / SCADA / HMI / DRIVES, capable of testing, repair, commissioning, programming and fault finding; PLCs to include Siemens S7, RS Logix, Allen Bradley, Compact Logix 5000 & 500, Mitsubishi processors.
  • Experience in installing electrical control systems, including AC / DC drives, variable frequency drives and closed-loop control with positioning systems.
  • Experience with monitoring equipment, installation and commissioning of vibration and temperature detection.
  • Computer competent with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and CMM systems (Synchro).
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise work activities for electrical, multiskilled and contractor personnel.
  • Knowledgeable with reading electrical drawings, process and control diagrams.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
