About The Role

Due to continued growth and succession within our Machine Shop we are looking for an additional Team Leader to join our growing Team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and provide leadership to the machine shop team.
  • Create work packages using the ERP system and monitor progress through the shop.
  • Carry out daily morning meetings to allocate and manage tasks assigned to the team to meet the requirements of the plan.
  • Monitor and report on the situation relating to the performance of the team.
  • Measure and record appropriate metrics to support relevant KPIs.
  • Use these KPIs to determine appropriate actions to improve the performance of the team.
  • Carry out staff appraisals and reviews detailing coaching requirements where required.
  • Ensure the workforce has the appropriate skill sets through training and development and that it is motivated and performing to expectations.
  • Implement best practices to improve production throughput, capacity, quality and reliability.
  • Any other related duties assigned by the Operations Manager.

Skills And Experience

  • Ideally you will have previous experience in the manufacture of machined components.
  • A track record in leading a team to success.
  • Able to understand technical and exploded drawings.
  • Must be able to create work packages and details.
  • The ability to operate and set a wide range of CNC and conventional machinery including mills, lathes, presses and saws.
  • Able to use manual lathes and mills would be beneficial.
  • Must be able to maintain a very high quality to tight tolerances.
  • A strong knowledge of modern manufacturing methods is required to succeed in the role.
  • Knowledge of, or exposure to LEAN manufacturing techniques.
