We are currently looking for manual machinists, ideally time served but not essential, to machine centrifugally spun castings for Aerospace and Power Generation industries, in a range of stainless alloys.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Machining large castings to drawings and to tolerance specified.
- Versatility to work a variety of machines, manual lathes / vertical borers.
- Ensure production is carried out to meet time frames set.
- Visual inspection of machined castings.
- Marking up of swarf drums (alloy identification).
- To work as part of a team with minimum supervision.
- Working safely throughout all activities in line with FVC’s safety standards and procedures.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience machining in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and translate these into producing dimensionally correct components.
- Able to work to tolerance and accurately use measuring equipment.
- Must be attentive to detail.
- An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Able to operate on your own initiative, but also able to contribute in a team environment.
- Flexible attitude towards work and overtime, including shift working.
- A good understanding of health & safety, environmental issues and quality rules.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
