About Parallel Projects
Great spaces don't happen by accident, and creating them should be one of the most exciting things a business or brand ever does. We have successfully built our business around that belief. We are a turnkey commercial design and build studio, taking clients seamlessly from concept to completion and beyond. Handling every detail along the way, so they get to enjoy the journey rather than endure it. Because commercial fit-out has a reputation for being stressful, complicated, and full of unwelcome surprises. We're here to change that.
Our client base is deliberately diverse across office, retail, health & wellness and hospitality sectors. From yoga studios, dental practices to offices, restaurants, fast food concepts and everything in between. No two projects look the same, and that is exactly how we like it.
Behind every project is a small, close-knit team of people who care deeply about the craft, move at pace, and hold the work to an uncompromising standard. We are collaborative by nature, ambitious by design, and genuinely excited by what we do every day. If that energy sounds like somewhere you'd do your best work? We'd love to meet you.
About the Role
We are looking for a talented Mid-Level Technical Designer to join our studio. This is a pivotal role that sits at the intersection of creativity and delivery, working hand in hand with our Creative Designer to bring projects to life with precision, rigour, and real craftsmanship.
You will own the technical output of our projects: from spatial planning and drawing packages through to custom joinery details and lighting layouts. Equally important is your ability to immerse yourself in each project’s world. Our clients span an unusually wide range of sectors, and we don’t expect you to have direct experience in everyone. What we do expect is the curiosity and initiative to research, understand, and become a genuine expert on whatever the project demands, whether that’s the operational workflow of a dental practice or the spatial logic of a fast-casual restaurant.
This is a startup environment. The pace is real, the pipeline ebbs and flows, and there will be moments that ask more of you than a standard job description would suggest. In return, you will be part of something that is genuinely growing, with real opportunity to grow alongside it.
Key Responsibilities
- Spatial Planning & Design Development – Develop and refine spatial plans across a diverse range of commercial environments, from studios and clinics to restaurants and workplaces.
- Lead on circulation, flow, and layout optimisation, ensuring every space works as hard as it looks.
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s operational workflow and equipment requirements, regardless of sector, through research, client engagement, and on-site visits.
- Collaborate closely with our Creative Designer to translate concept into a technically sound, deliverable design.
Technical Drawing Production – Produce the full suite of technical drawings required for each project, including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
- Develop detailed custom joinery (bespoke furniture) drawings for fabrication.
- Produce lighting and electrical layouts, coordinating with the wider project team and contractors.
- Ensure drawing packages are accurate, buildable, and communicated clearly for site teams and suppliers.
Planning & Compliance – Manage planning permission applications where required, liaising with local authorities and relevant consultants.
- Maintain awareness of building regulations and compliance requirements relevant to commercial interiors.
Site & Stakeholder Liaison – Maintain drawing registers and ensure all documentation is version-controlled, accurately issued, and clearly communicated to the relevant project stakeholders.
- Review and respond to technical queries from site, ensuring design integrity is upheld throughout the construction phase.
- Attend site visits as required, resolving technical queries and ensuring design intent is being faithfully executed.
- Liaise confidently with contractors, suppliers, and clients where required, maintaining clear and professional communication throughout.
Studio Contribution – Contribute to a collaborative, high-energy studio culture where everyone supports each other to deliver great work.
- Be willing to flex into tasks outside your core remit when the project or team needs it. That is the nature of how we work, and it is what makes us great at what we do as a small team.
Qualifications & Skills
Non-negotiable: *please do not apply if your experience does not meet the minimum non-negotiable requirements.
- Proven experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical design role within commercial interior design or commercial interior architecture. Experience producing full technical drawing packages for commercial fit-out or refurbishment projects.

- Familiarity with the end-to-end project lifecycle from concept through to build completion.
