About the role
At Parallax, we celebrate the curious: people who enjoy getting stuck into complex challenges, understanding how things really work, and building technology that makes a difference.
We're looking for a Technical Business Analyst to help our clients understand their challenges, explore what's possible and turn good ideas into deliverable projects.
You'll be involved from the earliest conversations in our sales process, working with prospective clients to understand their businesses, goals and constraints. Through discovery, you'll map processes, uncover problems and opportunities, and work with our multidisciplinary team to identify where technology can make a meaningful difference.
You'll bring business understanding and technical judgement together to explore potential solutions, test assumptions and shape clear, prioritised workstreams. That might mean mapping a complex workflow, investigating an integration, building a lightweight prototype or helping a client weigh up different approaches. You'll use AI-assisted tools alongside your own technical knowledge and experience to explore ideas and validate thinking quickly.
Your involvement will continue as projects progress. Depending on the engagement, you might be embedded in a delivery team or provide continuity through regular refinement and reviews. You'll help the team and client make informed decisions, adapt as they learn and stay focused on the business outcomes behind the work.
Key Responsibilities
-
Support sales conversations by exploring client challenges, asking insightful questions and helping shape credible approaches, scopes and proposals
-
Build a clear understanding of clients' businesses, including their users, processes, systems, data, commercial goals and operational constraints
-
Plan and facilitate discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to map current processes, understand root causes and define desired outcomes
-
Work with engineering and design to identify and evaluate potential technical solutions, considering feasibility, value, effort, risk and ongoing support
-
Use AI-assisted tools, lightweight prototypes and proofs of concept to explore options, test assumptions and make ideas tangible for clients and the team
-
Translate discovery findings into clear workstreams, priorities and delivery plans, identifying dependencies and opportunities to deliver value incrementally
-
Create practical artefacts that help people make decisions and build: process maps, user journeys, data flows, functional and non-functional requirements, and prioritised backlogs
-
Stay involved throughout delivery, refining requirements, resolving questions and assessing the impact of new information or changing priorities
-
Advise clients and colleagues on options and trade-offs, explaining technical considerations clearly and challenging assumptions constructively
-
Work closely with delivery, engineering, design and QA to ensure work is well understood, testable and aligned with the intended outcomes
About You
-
You're curious about how businesses work and enjoy getting beneath the surface of a request to understand the problem behind it. You can bring structure to an ambiguous brief, connect business needs with technical possibilities and help people agree on a practical way forward.
-
You're comfortable moving between conversations with senior stakeholders and detailed discussions with engineers. You can explain complex ideas clearly, challenge a proposed solution thoughtfully and build trust through sound advice.
-
You enjoy exploring ideas as well as seeing them through. You know when a sketch or prototype will answer a question faster than a document, and when more detailed analysis is needed. You're comfortable working in an agile setting, adapting as new information emerges and providing the level of detail the team needs to keep moving.
-
You take ownership, collaborate openly and bring an interest in how AI and other technologies can improve both your own work and the solutions we create for clients.
