As Head of Content and Marketing you will set the creative and strategic heartbeat of our brands leading how we tell stories to the world while driving the audience growth, engagement, and revenue those stories generate. This role bridges two worlds: the editorial craft of a prestige drinks publisher and the data‑led rigour of a modern digital marketer. You will lead the content team across strategy and production across print, digital, video, and social; and lead the marketing plan and budget across all brands; and take responsibility for the customer data and CRM infrastructure that connects content to commerce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and manage the marketing plan and budget across all Paragraph Publishing brands.
- Lead end‑to‑end multi‑channel customer strategy: acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Lead on website growth and performance strategies; manage web and digital agencies.
- Partner with the Media Director & Awards Director on digital advertising, partnerships, and campaign development.
- Ensure seamless customer journeys that optimise all revenue lines: advertising, affiliate, subscriptions, events, and commerce.
- Drive recurring revenue models: memberships, community, and subscription growth.
- Sell tickets to dinners and trade events.
- Market back issues, annuals, tasting journals, and branded products.
Brand Management
- In partnership with the Creative Director, lead the editorial and visual identity of all Paragraph Publishing brands across every touchpoint.
- Ensure consistency of tone, aesthetic, and positioning from print to digital to events while allowing room for each brand to evolve.
- Work closely with design, commercial, and editorial teams to maintain and update brand guidelines, ensuring every piece of content, campaign, and communication reflects where each brand stands and where it is heading.
- Champion brand integrity in partnership decisions, sponsored content, and third‑party collaborations, ensuring commercial activity never dilutes the authority and trust we have built with our audiences.
Audience Growth & Customer Data
- Lead team to grow and segment the subscriber and audience base to support free and paid revenue strategies.
- DTC strategies, membership programmes and newsletter registrations.
- Translate performance data into commercial insight; understand customer behaviour and journey with analytics expertise.
- Conduct ongoing market research and competitor analysis to identify content opportunities, white space, and emerging platforms.
- Develop and implement platform‑specific social media strategies for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and emerging channels.
- Oversee single customer view strategy across CMS, CRM, email, subscriptions, and events.

- Increase and improve the PR strategy across all brands and for the company.

Website & Platform Ownership
- Manage third‑party agency relationships to manage and develop whiskymag.com, worlddrinksawards.com, and all associated brand sites.
- Lead website redesign and redevelopment projects – write product requirements, manage agency briefing, testing, and release.
- Implement and maintain a sophisticated SEO strategy to grow organic reach and build a direct audience.
- Ensure templates are optimised for advertising and affiliate revenue across web, social, and newsletter.
- Manage third‑party agency relationships to manage and optimise all technical platforms for workflow and performance.

Oversee the full lifecycle of digital content – ideation, commissioning, editing, publication, and performance analysis – including long‑form articles, features, interviews, news, and sponsored content.
