Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality trauma-informed care and therapeutic support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Support young people with emotional wellbeing, mental health, and personal development
- Promote safeguarding and welfare at all times
- Act as a Key Worker and advocate for young people
- Support education, homework, appointments, and recreational activities
- Encourage independent living skills, social skills, and positive routines
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using approved strategies
- Complete accurate records, reports, and care documentation
- Transport young people to school, family contact, appointments, and activities
- Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, education providers, and healthcare professionals
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals (paid, voluntary, residential care, youth work, education, mentoring, fostering, family support, SEN or mental health settings)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Emotional resilience, empathy, patience, and professionalism
- Flexible approach to shift work, including days, evenings, weekends, waking nights, and sleep-ins where required
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care
- Level 3 Children and Young People's Workforce Qualification
- Health and Social Care Qualification
- Experience supporting children with EBD, SEMH, ADHD, Autism, Attachment Difficulties, Trauma, or Complex Needs
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Ofsted standards
- Experience within children's homes, residential care, supported accommodation, youth offending services, education, fostering, or family intervention services
