About the Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing and structured home where children and young people feel valued, supported and encouraged to thrive.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll provide practical, emotional and behavioural support tailored to each young person's individual needs. Through trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches, you'll help young people develop positive relationships, emotional resilience and greater independence.

Key Responsibilities
As part of our residential care team, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, child-centred care and support to children and young people
- Build positive, trusting and therapeutic relationships using trauma-informed practice
- Act as a consistent role model, providing stability, encouragement and emotional support
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children at all times
- Support young people with complex emotional, behavioural and social needs
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Advocate for young people's wishes, feelings and individual rights
- Support daily routines, education, appointments, family contact and recreational activities
- Respond confidently and professionally to challenging behaviour and crisis situations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and risk management
- Help create a safe, structured and nurturing home environment where young people can flourish
What We're Looking For
We're seeking caring individuals who are committed to improving the lives of children and young people.
Essential
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals (residential care experience desirable but not essential)
- A compassionate, patient and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins where required
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Desirable
- Experience within children's residential care, youth work, education, SEND, mental health, family support or social care
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and therapeutic approaches
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care or a related qualification
- Full UK Driving Licence
