About the Role:

Are you a calm, compassionate, and highly attentive female carer looking for a stable live-in role? Paragon Home Healthcare is seeking two female live-in carers working together at the same time to support a gentleman who was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS) 15 years ago. His condition is life limiting and has been completely life changing. He has full mental capacity but is now functionally paralysed from the neck down (quadriplegic), with limited head movement and a very weak voice. Safe and effective care requires skilled, attentive carers who are confident supporting non-verbal communication, reading subtle cues, and working calmly and patiently. He uses an eye gaze machine for some communication.

Despite the challenges of his condition, he has a good quality of life and enjoys living at home with his wife, supported by a strong network of friends and family both locally and via video calls. This placement focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred complex care, supporting comfort, dignity, communication, and daily routines within the client's own home. This is a live-in position, providing continuous support in a well-established and well-supported care package.

Location: BN6 home-based placement in a pleasant residential area with amenities within walking distance.

Client personality: Intelligent, thoughtful, and gentle; values calm, respectful interaction and being spoken to directly.

Daily support:

  • Full personal care
  • 24/7 support for all activities of daily living
  • Complex moving and handling (two carers required at all times)
  • Communication support including eye gaze and non-verbal methods
  • Pressure care and supporting quality of life within a calm, structured routine

Household: Non-smoking, No pets. The client lives with his wife in their adapted home, with downstairs accommodation and an accessible garden, allowing him to spend time outdoors. His wife is very involved in his care, knows his routines extremely well, and works closely with the care team to ensure continuity and high standards of care. He uses community transport to attend medical appointments.

Rota & Pay:

  • Live-in position
  • Two live-in carers on shift together at all times
  • Pay rate: £147.75 per day per live-in carer

A specialist placement ideal for carers who enjoy working as part of a team, value clear guidance, and take pride in delivering thoughtful, attentive care.

  • Assist with washing, dressing, showering, and full personal care
  • Support safe moving and handling using specialist equipment (2 carers required)

In this role, compassion is key. Be prepared to share examples from your past experiences where you've shown kindness and patience in challenging situations. Highlight how you can maintain a calm and reassuring presence, which is essential for supporting someone with complex care needs.
