About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Live‑In Carer / Personal Assistant to support a client living with a spinal cord injury (quadriplegia) who leads an active and creative lifestyle. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, community engagement, and making a genuine difference every day.
- Support a respectful, friendly client who enjoys exercise, music and creative projects.
- Personal care and mobility assistance.
- Driving to activities, appointments and social outings.
- Basic household tasks and supporting daily organisation and independence.
- Maintaining accurate care records and communicating any changes.
Full training is provided, and you’ll be supported by an experienced clinical and care team throughout.
Location & Driving
Location: St Albans AL2. Driving: Essential – regular outings are part of the role. A full UK driving licence is required, and insurance is provided for use of the client’s adapted vehicle.
Pay, Rota & Rewards
- Pay: £152.18 per day
- Bonus: Up to £400 joining & training bonus • £150 paid with first salary • £250 paid after successful probation
- Food allowance: £49 per week
- Travel allowance: Competitive travel allowance per placement
- Rota: 2 weeks live‑in, followed by 2 weeks off. After a 1‑week rest you may choose to work with another client or join a standby rota, working conveniently from home.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver person‑centred personal care and mobility support.
- Support daily routines, community activities and engagement.
- Assist with safe transfers and day‑to‑day living tasks.
- Help with household organisation.
- Maintain accurate care records and communicate any changes.
What We’re Looking For
- Female carer required due to the need to provide personal care (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1).
- Positive, reliable, and respectful.
- Energetic and comfortable with an active routine.
- Confident driver and able to accompany the client.
- Happy supporting both personal care and daily tasks.
- Flexible and adaptable to individual needs.
No previous spinal care experience required – full training provided from a specialist provider and trusted partner of the SIA Spinal Injuries Association.
