Paragon is searching for an Asset Process Engineering Consultant for a role with an Oil and Gas operating company in the UK. This is a hybrid position with working from home and regular visits to the office in London and a site in West Africa. It is a one year renewable contract and will be Outside IR35 for those contracting from the UK.

Candidates must have experience with onshore producing brownfield assets and have been responsible for ensuring project success from concept to execution, providing technical expertise, and aligning projects with business objectives. Candidates must have experience working for an Oil and Gas operating company and have exposure to projects in the Middle East and Africa and have experience in site and office based roles. Our client was established and has grown through acquisition hence all their assets are aging assets. While these assets benefit from operational experience, they present challenges such as limited corrosion allowance, degrading equipment performance, changing fluid composition, and stringent emissions regulations. Addressing symptoms provides short-term relief but often fails to resolve root causes, leading to recurring issues. To tackle these challenges, we need an experienced and pragmatic professional to provide process engineering services for our sites to diagnose problems and propose effective solutions.

Deliverables:

  • Familiarisation with the design and peculiarities of each asset.
  • Carry out an investigatory visit to each site, interfacing with the OIM and operators to identify the current operating challenges.
  • Develop a SMART (Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time specific) framework for addressing the identified challenges with priority given to the safety and production output related challenges.
  • Propose pragmatic and feasible solutions.
  • Facilitate required tests to confirm feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Present and communicate findings and proposals to stakeholders.
  • Interface with the process team onsite or London to develop selected solutions.
  • Assist the West Africa process team with operational support activities as and when required.
  • Report to the London office on activities carried out as and when required.
  • Interface with other disciplines in the development or execution of proposed solutions.
  • Assist operations on high priority process challenges, as defined by safety and production output requirements.
  • Assist with process optimization of each asset.
  • Assist with operations related technical input on projects as and when required.
  • Provide pragmatic and progressive approach towards resolving any showstoppers or issues that may arise.

The consultant will be required to occasionally travel to our sites in West Africa. Full scope of work with deliverables and objectives will be made available during a technical validation meeting.

Requirements:

  • Process Engineer with 10+ years' experience in late life assets and in the Process / Petrochemicals Industry & / or onshore / offshore oil & gas is required.
  • Proficiency in English is required and proficiency in French is a bonus.
  • Track record of generating and implementing "out of the box" pragmatic and safe solutions to process engineering problems.
  • Operational site experience.
  • Good practical working knowledge of process software, especially Unisim for process simulation.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of international standards.
  • Experience in the design of typical equipment used in oil and gas processing facilities.
