This is an important role where you’ll inspect, assess, and maintain fire doors across our residential buildings, helping ensure our homes remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. You’ll work closely with residents, contractors, and internal teams to identify risks, coordinate remedial works, and maintain high safety standards across our properties. If you are passionate about fire safety, enjoy problem solving, and want to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

This role is about more than inspections. It is about protecting residents, improving safety, and supporting healthier homes and communities.

What’s in it for you…. In addition to the salary, we offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Health cash plans
  • 26 days’ annual leave, increasing to 29 after three years, with the opportunity to buy more
  • Flexible bank holidays – take them when it suits you
  • Car leasing scheme
  • Hybrid working – offering you the flexibility to thrive in your role. You'll have the opportunity to blend the best of both worlds, spending approximately two to three days per week in the office once settled in the role. This is flexible and depends on meeting cycles and board activity.
  • Optional nine-day fortnight scheme, allowing you to compress your hours if it suits the role.

What you’ll be doing……

  • Carry out detailed inspections and assessments of fire doors and frames across residential properties
  • Identify defects, assess risk levels, and ensure issues are prioritised and resolved within required timescales
  • Complete minor repairs and adjustments including seals, hinges, self closers, and hardware replacements
  • Raise and track remedial works, ensuring all actions are recorded accurately and completed efficiently
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and clearly communicate findings and recommendations
  • Work closely with residents, contractors, and colleagues to ensure works are completed safely and professionally
  • Support compliance with fire safety legislation, Building Safety requirements, and Awaab’s Law
  • Carry out testing to ensure fire doors close and latch correctly and remain fully operational
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting activity when required
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and resident wellbeing in every interaction
  • Keep up to date with fire safety legislation, standards, and best practice guidance

  • Have experience inspecting, maintaining, or repairing fire doors within residential or commercial buildings
  • Understand current fire safety legislation and standards including the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order and Building Safety Act
  • Have knowledge of fire door construction, seals, hardware, and compliance requirements
  • Are confident identifying risks and recommending practical solutions
  • Have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate reports and records
  • Are comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Have excellent communication skills and can build positive relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Are confident using mobile technology, apps, and digital reporting systems
  • Bring a proactive and solution focused approach to safety and compliance
  • Have experience working within housing or property compliance services (desirable)
