Together, were building a better future. About the role We are looking for a skilled Carpenter / UPVC Operative to join our trades team. You will carry out a wide range of carpentry and UPVC repairs across our homes, including doors, windows, kitchens, flooring, locks, fencing, gates and other timber-based or UPVC components. You will work independently and as part of a wider team, delivering high quality work, keeping residents informed and making sure repairs are completed safely and right first time. You will use a company van and fuel card for business travel across our operating area: Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. Key responsibilities Technical delivery Carry out carpentry repairs including doors, frames, skirting, architraves, locks, kitchens, flooring, cupboards, fencing and gates Complete UPVC repairs including window and door mechanisms, hinges and handles Carry out first and second fix carpentry work Diagnose issues and complete repairs independently Order materials when needed and manage van stock responsibly Use PDA and repairs systems to update work orders and record materials used Report unsafe installations, compliance concerns or risks Service delivery Deliver repairs right first time wherever possible Manage workload efficiently and complete jobs within agreed timescales Provide clear updates to supervisors when follow-on work is needed Minimise waste and use materials responsibly Support team targets and KPI performance Customer service Communicate clearly and professionally with residents Keep residents informed about work, timescales and access needs Work respectfully in residents homes and leave work areas clean and safe Contribute to positive resident satisfaction through quality workmanship Health and safety Follow all health and safety requirements, risk assessments and safe systems of work Use tools and equipment safely and maintain them appropriately Report risks, unsafe practices or compliance concerns Drive company vehicles safely and keep them clean and roadworthy Conditions of service Work across our geographical area as required Support out-of-hours or emergency repairs when needed Hold a full, valid UK driving licence Our exepectations High-quality carpentry and UPVC work with reduced defects and recalls Positive resident feedback and strong satisfaction Efficient completion of jobs within agreed timescales Good control of materials and van stock Accurate updates on PDA and systems Strong compliance with health and safety and organisational standards About you Experience Experience carrying out carpentry repairs, maintenance and installation Experience working in social housing, domestic maintenance or responsive repairs Experience delivering high-quality, right-first-time repairs Experience diagnosing and resolving repeat repair issues Knowledge Strong technical knowledge of carpentry, joinery and UPVC repairs Understanding of responsive repairs, work allocation and service standards Clear understanding of health and safety and safe systems of work Understanding of customer service and resident-focused delivery Awareness of value for money and efficient use of materials Working knowledge of repairs systems, scheduling tools and mobile technology Skills Good communication and customer service skills Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload Ability to identify issues and make sound decisions Confident using PDAs and mobile working systems Other NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, City and Guilds Level 2 or Level 3 Technical Certificate in Site Carpentry, or equivalent Apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent experience Full valid UK driving licence Benefits At SettleParadigm, we believe in creating an environment where our people feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.
