Due to significant growth at Paradigm Housing Group, including the acquisition of a large number of properties from another housing association, we are expanding our Fire team to support our growing portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Fire Risk Assessor to join us at a pivotal time. Paradigm's top priority is the safety of our residents and colleagues. In this role, you will work directly with residents to provide fire safety solutions, including Person-Centred Fire Risk Assessments (PCFRAs) and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs). These assessments will soon become a legal requirement, so your contribution will be vital.
About the Role
As fire safety is a core activity, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business, so experience working cross-functionally is essential. You'll work independently to a set standard, supported by the Fire Risk Assessor Manager, and be part of a small, specialised team within the Compliance department of our wider Property directorate. You will:
- Complete compliant Type 1, Type 3, and Pre-Occupation Fire Risk Assessments to a pre-determined programme.
- Visit residents where needed to complete PCFRAs and PEEPs.
- Provide expert advice to colleagues on fire safety matters.
- Review documentation from external organisations relating to resident fire safety.
- Contribute to our development programme by reviewing Reg 38 documents and pre-inspecting new build blocks.
This role involves site visits across our operating area, so a full UK driving licence and daily access to a car are essential. Business mileage, excluding your commute, will be reimbursed at the prevailing rate.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Demonstrable experience working to deadlines while engaging with customers and colleagues.
- Experience liaising with local fire and rescue services to build positive working relationships.
- A passion for fire safety and excellent service delivery, with experience conducting fire risk assessments in a team environment.
- Essential experience in fire risk assessment within a housing context.
- Competency as a Fire Risk Assessor and a willingness to continue learning in this evolving field.
- A reasonable level of physical fitness, as the role involves accessing roof voids and carrying ladders in line with health and safety requirements.
Why Join Us?
We are a Best Companies 2 STAR accredited organisation, recognised for our high employee engagement. We offer a welcoming, supportive environment and are focused on delivering our ambitious five-year corporate plan, including sustainability and environmental goals to provide quality homes for those who need them.
