HR Manager

Main responsibilities for the successful HR Manager

As the HR Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a proactive and commercially focused HR service, partnering with senior leaders and managers to support the business and its people.

You will provide expert guidance on employee relations, ensure compliance with employment legislation, lead people initiatives, coordinate training, and oversee all HR administration, including HRIS management, reporting, and employee benefits.

As a standalone HR role, you will act as a trusted advisor while working with external HR specialists on complex employment law matters when required.

  • Take ownership of the HR function, ensuring an efficient, proactive and commercially focused HR service is delivered across the business.
  • Provide professional, pragmatic and consistent HR advice and guidance to managers on all people-related matters.
  • Coach managers in managing employee relations matters, including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance and capability issues.
  • Review, develop and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with employment legislation and business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through automation, technology and improved working practices
  • Produce monthly HR metric reports and management information to support business planning and decision-making
  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, supporting hiring managers with recruitment planning, advertising, interviewing, offer management and induction.
  • Manage HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle, including preparing contracts, letters and employment documentation.
  • Administer employee benefits platforms and support employees with benefits-related queries.
  • Provide Payroll team with accurate payroll information, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, salary amendments and absence data, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Review, develop and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with employment legislation and business needs.
  • Lead and contribute to HR projects that support organisational objectives, employee engagement and wider business strategy.
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice, ensuring the business remains compliant.
  • Liaise with external HR consultants, occupational health providers, recruitment agencies and legal advisors were appropriate
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

Main requirement for the successful HR Manager

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • At least five years' HR generalist experience.
  • Previous experience operating as the sole HR professional or within a small HR team.
  • Experience independently managing end-to-end HR processes.
  • Excellent employment law knowledge.
  • Experience advising senior managers.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Confident working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build credibility quickly with managers and employees.
