Main Responsibilities for the successful Mechanical Engineer:

  • Ensure the production plant and site operate at optimal performance and efficiency, with a primary focus on mechanical maintenance and reliability.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to carry out planned preventive maintenance, continuous improvement projects, and reactive maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance.
  • Engage with fairness and respect and promote ethical behaviour in all working relationships.
  • Liaise effectively with the Engineering Manager on all engineering-related matters.
  • Build strong working relationships with Production and Manufacturing teams to support efficient operations.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, fault finding, and preventative maintenance activities on production equipment.
  • Ensure all plant assets are maintained to a high standard and in line with maintenance schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and modifications as required.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities, faults, and completed work through the reporting system.
  • Manage engineering spare parts and stock control in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety, food safety, hygiene, and engineering standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programmes to gain electrical competency and progress towards a Multi-Skilled Engineer role.

Main requirements for the successful Mechanical Engineer:

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience maintaining manufacturing or FMCG production machinery.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and general production equipment.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, food production, or FMCG environment would be advantageous.
  • A willingness to learn and develop electrical skills through company-supported training.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive attitude with a desire to progress into a Multi-Skilled Engineer position.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
