Papworth Trust is looking for a part-time, permanent Support Worker to join our Day Service Team in Sawston, Cambridgeshire, supporting adults with profound and multiple disabilities in their daily lives.

About the role:
As a Support Worker, you will help deliver services for adults with profound and multiple disabilities, supporting their independence, choices, and engagement in activities. You will provide personal care, assist with moving & handling, and use communication skills to enhance inclusion and participation, both in group and 1:1 sessions. Working hours for this role are 19.5 hours per week, working 9:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Empower customers to have independence and make choices, supporting the development of meaningful relationships with peers.
- Support customers with complex needs to engage in activities, both in group sessions and 1:1.
- Assist with personal care and mobility in line with individual Care and Support plans.
- Use communication skills, including picture exchange, objects of reference, social stories, schedules, and Makaton, to enhance inclusion and engagement.
- Create and adapt activity sessions to enable participation for individuals with profound learning disabilities and complex sensory or healthcare needs.
About you:
As a Support Worker, we welcome applicants with relevant experience or transferable skills from roles such as teaching, teaching assistant, or supporting older adults. You will support adults with profound learning disabilities and complex needs, adapting activities and communicating using picture exchange, objects of reference, social stories, schedules, and Makaton (experience with Makaton is a plus). You should be a strong communicator, able to plan 1:1 support, and willing to complete the Care Certificate and Papworth training.
