The business is growing and internationalising rapidly, particularly experiencing growth in the US across both D2C and wholesale channels.
The Junior Stationery Designer will be a key member of the design process; working with the wider design team in supporting design and admin work, as well as taking responsibility for their own design projects that fulfil the overall creative vision. You will take ownership of your designated tasks, work collaboratively with your team and communicate well with the wider company to complete projects that will push the brand forward. You will show a good design skill in illustration and typography, while using your initiative to stay up to date with current and future trends, playing an essential role in the growth of Papier as a global lifestyle brand.
What We’re Looking For:
- You’ll have a proven track record of utilising your illustration, typography and layout skills or producing design-led stationery products, with a strong portfolio to support.
- A keen interest in print & stationery design with a knowledge of paper stock, print techniques and print production.
- A good understanding of preparing artwork for print and web.
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Highly organised and able to work independently, managing own workload and deadlines.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and react quickly to the changing demands of a fast-paced environment.
- You pride yourself on collaboration and have some experience working with teams outside of Design.
- A natural communicator who can build effective relationships and thrive on working cross-functionally and influencing others.
What You’ll Do:
- Creative Concepting & Ideation: Create trend-setting, aspirational designs through the excellent execution of design projects. Communicate design ideas internally with clarity in order to gather feedback. Maintain an awareness of emerging lifestyle and design trends and techniques through proactive research and experimentation.
- Design Execution & Delivery: Utilise good skill in illustration, graphic design and print composition; translating these into trend-setting product design ideas. Actively manage your own schedule, defining and seeking alignment on this where necessary, and take the initiative to plan and establish a project's next steps. Develop a collaborative working relationship with key stakeholders by maintaining clear communication and escalating any project issues where necessary. Seek clarification and information on design performance in order to develop understanding further and identify own improvement opportunities. Support business needs and team goals by actively self-nominating for ad hoc requests.
- Quality, Craft & Consistency: Consistently utilise good design skill to create high-calibre designs that push the brand forward. Ensure that all completed designs adhere to agreed quality standards, including correct uploading, file naming, artwork set up and exporting. Review physical product samples, provide detailed feedback to suppliers globally, and ensure all products meet Papier's quality standards. Support improvement initiatives by questioning how tasks could be done better and acting upon opportunities to improve.
- Learning, Coaching & Development: Invest in own development by attending training sessions and suggesting ideas for new training areas; demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop skills and knowledge at Papier. Suggest areas for own design development, maintaining a proactive approach to skill sharing and upskilling.
