About the Role
We're looking for a trustee with experience in accountancy to assist with our annual accounts and financial sustainability while we build a leadership programme that develops artists from British East Asian and South East Asian backgrounds for the theatre industry.
What difference will you make?
As a trustee with financial skills, you will help the board maintain financial discipline and secure our future, creating many more opportunities for British East and South East Asian theatre artists for years to come.
What are we looking for?
As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will be committed to ensuring the strategic oversight of the charity’s decision making, sustainability, and good governance. We seek trustees who specialise in one of the following areas:
- Ability to file annual accounts to HMRC pro bono
- Financial discipline
Nice to have but not required:
- A connection to the British East and South East Asian community
- Experience working in the arts or theatre sector
What will you be doing?
As a trustee, you'll help guide us through a tricky time in the theatre industry where prudent spending and budgeting is the highest priority. We have transformative plans for fundraising that should enable us to develop leadership talent for many years, but resources need to be managed carefully. We have a broad mix of trustees specialising in their respective fields: law, theatre policy, artistic practice, marketing. Our current trustee who looks after our annual returns and advises on financial matters is retiring and looking to hand the reins to someone new. Could that person be you?
For this reason, we're looking for someone who is ACCA/ACA qualified (or has access to someone who is) to help with our returns and mentor our leadership team on the basics of financial discipline. The board has a close relationship with the leadership team and we are looking for trustees whose values align with ours. Our core values are Collaboration, Commitment & Communication. We are committed to improving the representation of British East and South East Asian culture across the dramatic arts, primarily in UK theatre.
