The Government Relations Manager for the UK and Ireland will execute strategies to advance Zoom’s interests in these regions. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with government representatives at national, regional, and local levels. Responsibilities include managing public policy matters, developing legislative solutions, and fostering understanding of Zoom’s products, policies, and values. Collaboration with think tanks, industry groups, and civil society organizations will ensure awareness of market developments and influence policy discussions. The position reports to the Chief Global Affairs Officer and requires proactive engagement to achieve strategic objectives.
The Global Public Policy and Government Relations team is Zoom's API to governments around the world. We prepare Zoom for political and regulatory developments by providing analysis and developing policy strategies. We protect Zoom's ability to compete by influencing public policies and representing the company before policymakers. We promote Zoom's business by enhancing its freedom to operate and providing political coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring Zoom’s leadership remains informed and comprehends the business importance of relevant policy developments in a proactive and prompt manner.
- Assisting in identifying legislative and other policy trends and developing strategies and policy language to further Zoom’s interests.
- Identifying, tracking, and advising on introduced and proposed legislation and other policy initiatives.
- Collaborating with Zoom’s legal, compliance, business, and communications teams on region-specific legislative initiatives and newly introduced or enforced regulatory frameworks.
- Building an extensive network of connections with policymakers, thought leaders, and policy professionals to strengthen Zoom’s reputation as a valuable contributor to public policy development.
- Working with trade associations to maximize collaboration with industry colleagues where joint action is beneficial.
- Driving Zoom’s thought leadership initiatives and partnerships in Westminster and Dublin with think tanks, policy organizations, and NGOs focused on issues of relevance to Zoom.
- Working closely with Zoom’s PR team to ensure a tailored communications strategy for Westminster.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrate extensive experience collaborating with government representatives, private sector executives, and other public policy experts.
- Demonstrate expertise in the public policy landscape within Westminster and Whitehall, including organizations directly influencing Zoom's operations.
- Demonstrate expertise in reviewing and evaluating legislation and technical policy documents with accuracy and thoroughness.
- Demonstrate exceptional abilities in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
- Demonstrate consistent collaboration with diverse team members in an ever-changing, technologically sophisticated work setting.
- Demonstrate exceptional integrity, professionalism, and the capability to manage sensitive and private information effectively.
- Possess a formal education in law, public policy, business, economics, international affairs, or a related discipline at the undergraduate level or higher.
- Demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience creating and implementing public policy strategies while engaging professionally within a public policy setting.
