Due to continued growth, my client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their experienced MEP team in Winchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior building services professional to lead mechanical design on a diverse range of projects across the residential, healthcare, education, commercial, and regeneration sectors.
The Role
- You will lead mechanical services design, manage project delivery, and work closely with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.
- The role includes technical leadership, project oversight, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and act as project engineer
- Manage and review the work of engineers and specialists
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver project requirements
- Produce designs, calculations, reports, and specifications across RIBA stages
- Use CAD/BIM (ideally Revit) and design tools such as Hevacomp and IES
- Ensure compliance with regulations, QA standards, and health & safety requirements
- Advise on energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction
- Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices
About You
- Significant experience in mechanical/building services design
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification (HNC/HND or higher)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng)
- Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
