We are working in partnership with a well-established, privately owned housebuilder with a strong presence across the Midlands, who are looking to appoint an experienced Development Manager to support their growing pipeline of residential schemes. The Role

  • Reporting into the Head of Development, you will take responsibility for a number of residential sites, managing the development process from land handover through to securing planning consent and preparing schemes for delivery.
  • You will play a key role in shaping developments, ensuring they are commercially viable, policy-compliant, and deliverable within programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development process across multiple residential schemes
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants including planning, technical, and design teams
  • Drive planning applications through to successful approval
  • Work closely with land, technical, and commercial teams internally
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities and key stakeholders
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Monitor budgets, programme, and key milestones

About You

  • Proven experience in a Development Manager role within housebuilding or residential development
  • Strong knowledge of the planning system, land acquisition process, and Section 106 agreements
  • Commercially astute with experience assessing site viability
  • Confident managing multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proactive, organised, and delivery-focused
