Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) Officer

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) Officer to support the delivery of highways schemes by drafting and managing both temporary and permanent TROs. This contract role sits within the Highways & Transport team of a local authority and involves close collaboration with engineers, solicitors, and elected members.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft legal documents for TROs in line with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
- Manage the full TRO process, including consultation and publication of statutory notices
- Provide legal and procedural advice to engineers and council stakeholders
- Liaise with solicitors, contractors, utility companies, and local Members
- Ensure all orders are correctly sealed prior to commencement of highway works
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering TROs in a local authority or highways environment
- Strong working knowledge of traffic management legislation and legal procedures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
