A forward-thinking school in the South West is seeking an experienced Interim Assistant Headteacher with SENCO qualification to join the senior leadership team for a full academic year. This is a pivotal role supporting the school through a period of transition, requiring a confident leader who can provide both strategic direction and day-to-day operational stability.
The successful candidate will champion inclusive practice, strengthen SEND provision, and work closely with the Headteacher to drive whole-school improvement. You will play a central role in shaping teaching and learning, supporting staff development, and ensuring that every pupil, particularly those with additional needs, receives the highest standard of education and pastoral care.
This role demands a leader who can quickly build trust, assess priorities, and implement effective systems that enhance outcomes for pupils with SEND.
To be considered you must have:
- Proven senior leadership experience within a school setting, ideally as Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or equivalent.
- SENCO qualification (mandatory) with a strong track record of leading SEND provision.
- Experience managing EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory SEND responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current educational legislation.
