Our client is a leading satellite system integrator, delivering advanced space missions for institutional and commercial customers across Europe, with a strong focus on innovation and high-performance spacecraft solutions. You will have the opportunity to contribute to exciting programmes alongside highly experienced engineering teams.

We are looking for a Lead Electrical Functional Test AIT Engineer to take ownership of electrical functional verification activities throughout the complete spacecraft Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) lifecycle.

Contract Details

  • 2-year freelance contract
  • Full-time engagement
  • Year 1 based in Milan, Italy
  • Relocation to the Netherlands from Year 2
  • Final 6 weeks of the project based in Japan

The Role

You will lead the electrical functional testing of spacecraft flight hardware, supporting integration from subsystem level through to full system qualification. Working within a multidisciplinary AIT team, you will be responsible for developing and executing test procedures, automating functional testing, operating Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), investigating anomalies and supporting spacecraft verification campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead spacecraft electrical functional testing activities
  • Develop, review and execute electrical and functional test procedures
  • Develop automated test scripts using CCS5 and PCL
  • Perform functional verification of avionics, power, communications and payload subsystems
  • Operate EGSE and spacecraft electrical test equipment
  • Analyse test results and investigate anomalies
  • Support spacecraft assembly, integration and system verification
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and test reports
  • Work closely with Systems, Software, Product Assurance and AIT teams
  • Support environmental testing, qualification campaigns and customer acceptance testing

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Spacecraft AIT/AIV
  • Proven experience performing electrical functional testing on spacecraft flight hardware
  • Strong experience writing and executing spacecraft test procedures
  • Hands-on experience with CCS5 and PCL scripting
  • Experience using EGSE and spacecraft electrical interfaces
  • Good understanding of ECSS standards and spacecraft verification
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working within international engineering teams
