London Borough of Brent with the recruitment of SEND Area Coordinators to help deliver one of the country's most ambitious

SEND transformation programmes.

These are brand new roles forming part of Brent's

Experts at Hand model, bringing together education, health and families through locally based multidisciplinary teams to provide earlier, more coordinated support for children and young people.

Rather than managing large teams, you'll be responsible for building relationships, developing local partnerships and coordinating professionals across education, health and wider services to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys creating new ways of working, influencing partners and leading change.

The role

  • Establish and develop local SEND clusters across Brent.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary working between schools, health services and wider partners.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, families and Parent Carer Forums.
  • Support implementation of Brent's new Experts at Hand operating model.
  • Lead local meetings and drive actions across partner organisations.
  • Work closely with education, health and family services to improve outcomes for children.
  • Support implementation of a new screening and early intervention model.
  • Line manage an administrator while coordinating wider multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • You'll bring
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Experience working collaboratively across education, health and families.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with schools and partner agencies.
  • Experience leading change or implementing new ways of working.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
  • A child-centred, collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • Qualified Teacher Status and the National SENCO Qualification are welcomed but are not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent experience.

This role will particularly suit someone who enjoys influencing others, bringing people together and helping shape new services rather than working within established structures.

If you're passionate about improving outcomes for children and families and want to play a key role in transforming SEND support across Brent, we'd love to hear from you.
