Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Our Client as a Deputy Chief Finance Officer (DCFO). The position has become available due to growth initiatives aimed at enhancing financial operations and compliance across the trust. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading all operational finance aspects and ensuring that financial management processes are efficient, compliant, and well understood across the organisation. This role is strategic and critical to the overall success of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, month‑end processes, and financial reporting throughout the Trust.
- Lead and develop the finance team to ensure all financial systems and processes are efficient, robust, and compliant.
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to plan and implement finance projects, including process improvements and onboarding of new schools.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvements in financial practices across the Trust.
- Serve as the primary contact for central finance team regarding operational finance issues.
Essential Skills & Experience
- A degree‑level education and a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, or CIPFA).
- Proven experience leading an effective finance function with demonstrable success in building strong teams.
- Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills with a strategic approach to financial management.
- A track record in developing financial management processes and controls that meet compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Diploma in school financial and operational leadership.
- High level of IT competence, particularly in financial systems and data management reporting.
- Experience in the education sector or similar environments would be advantageous.
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive, innovative approach focused on continuous improvement.
