This is a dynamic, generic contract role where you will hit the ground running to handle a varied workload ranging from complex housing inspections and food safety audits to environmental pollution interventions. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Enforcement & Investigations: Investigating service requests and taking appropriate statutory action including drafting and serving notices and taking legal proceedings.
  • Inspections: Participating in risk-based inspection programmes across residential, commercial, and industrial premises.
  • Expert Advice: Providing high-level technical and legislative advice to the public, businesses, and internal teams.
  • Legal Support: Preparing complex reports and attending courts of law or tribunals as an ordinary or expert witness if required.

What You Need to Qualify:

  • The Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health recognised by the CIEH.
  • The Professional Registration: You must hold a Certificate of Registration from the EHORB OR be currently registered as a Chartered/Registered Environmental Health Practitioner with the CIEH.
  • Experience: At least 12 months of practical experience carrying out the duties of an EHO.
  • Core Skills: Excellent communication skills (advanced English fluency is required for public interaction), strong risk-assessment instincts, and a valid driving licence.

Contract Details:

  • IR35 Status: Strictly Inside IR35 (paid via Umbrella).
  • Work Style: Mobile/Field-based across the region with flexible/hybrid admin days.
  • Equipment: Must be comfortable using standard IT packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) to log and produce report documents.
