Assistant Headteacher - Early Years (EYFS)
Location: West Midlands
Contract: Interim - until Christmas (potential extension)
Start date: As soon as possible / after half term
Day rate: £Competitive day rate (Inside IR35)

I\'m working with a Primary School who are seeking an experienced Assistant Headteacher (EYFS) to provide steady and positive leadership across the Early Years Foundation Stage through the remainder of the autumn term.

This interim role offers the opportunity to make a real impact within a well-established school community, ensuring high-quality teaching and consistency across Nursery and Reception provision.

The Role

  • Oversee the Early Years provision, including Reception & Nursery Classes
  • 3 days teaching in Reception and 2 days leadership, with flexibility depending on strengths.
  • Lead day-to-day EYFS provision, modelling effective practice and supporting colleagues.
  • Line manage and coach EYFS staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Contribute to senior leadership meetings alongside the new Headteacher and Assistant Head of School.
  • Maintain a positive and consistent presence - with a focus on supporting what\'s already working rather than overhauling systems.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A proven EYFS leader - either an experienced Assistant Headteacher or a strong Middle Leader ready to step up.
  • A positive, team-focused approach with the ability to motivate and unify staff.
  • Confident in leading on curriculum, safeguarding, and teaching quality.
  • Experience in settings with low SEND/PP levels, though confident supporting pupils with speech and language needs.
