A forward-thinking Local Authority in North Yorkshire is seeking an experienced, fully registered Class 2D Building Inspector to support their established Building Control team. This initial 6-month contract offers an exceptional hourly rate of £75 per hour (Inside IR35) and provides a balanced, well-managed caseload across a stunning geographic region. The council is open to flexible, hybrid working arrangements, combining remote plan checking with efficient, clustered site inspections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan Assessment & Site Inspections: Manage a diverse caseload of domestic and non-domestic projects falling within the Class 2A–2D competency criteria.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assess plans and specifications to ensure strict compliance with the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide clear, professional guidance to developers, architects, contractors, and local residents on compliance and construction standards.
  • Enforcement & Records: Maintain meticulous inspection records in line with BSR audit requirements and escalate non-compliance or dangerous structures where necessary.

Key Requirements

  • BSR Registration: Must be a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) at Class 2D minimum with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Local Authority Experience: A proven track record delivering public sector Building Control services is highly desirable.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of UK Building Regulations, structural standards, and fire safety protocols.
  • Mobility: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits across North Yorkshire.
