Interim Environmental Protection Team Leader
London Based - Hybrid Working
Β£300-350 Inside IR35 per day
3-6-month contract initially
Panoramic Associates is currently working with a Local Authority client to facilitate the appointment of an experienced Environmental Protection Team Leader on an interim basis. This role will lead the Environmental Protection function, ensuring the delivery of statutory services including environmental health, nuisance, pollution control, and regulatory compliance. The initial contract will be for 3-6 months with strong potential for extension.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead and manage the Environmental Protection team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with statutory obligations.
- Provide expert advice on environmental protection, pollution control, statutory nuisance, and environmental health legislation.
- Manage performance, workloads, and development of staff within the team.
- Oversee investigations, enforcement actions, and complex or high-profile cases.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and practices align with current legislation and best practice.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, elected members, and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic planning and service improvement initiatives.
- Support budget management and resource planning for the service area.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Significant experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection or Environmental Health service.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams.
- Strong knowledge of environmental protection legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience handling complex enforcement and compliance cases.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in an interim capacity and deliver impact quickly.
