Panoramic Associates are supporting a Local Authority in the South East to appoint a Climate Change & Biodiversity Specialist on a short-term contract running until early March. You will provide expert input into the council's environmental strategy, driving climate action and delivering biodiversity priorities across the region.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising on climate change mitigation and adaptation policies
- Supporting the development and delivery of the council's Climate Action Plan
- Providing technical expertise on biodiversity, nature recovery and habitat enhancement
- Ensuring compliance with national environmental legislation (including Biodiversity Net Gain)
- Reviewing environmental evidence, reports and assessments
- Contributing to strategic planning and sustainability programmes
- Engaging with internal teams, elected members and community stakeholders
- Preparing reports, briefings and recommendations to support decision-making
- Supporting grant applications and external funding bids
We are looking for:
- Proven experience in climate change, biodiversity, ecology, or environmental planning
- Experience working within a Local Authority/public sector environment
- Strong knowledge of climate policy, Net Zero pathways & Biodiversity Net Gain
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and deliver to tight deadlines
