Building Safety Advisor
Location:Hampshire

This role is a key appointment in ensuring that the council\’s residential buildings particularly high-rise and higher-risk buildings remain safe, compliant, and effectively managed. The post holder will assist in the delivery of the Council\’s building and fire safety assurance frameworks, working closely with colleagues across housing, compliance, and asset management functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Fire Safety in ensuring that all buildings comply with relevant statutory and regulatory fire safety requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, coordination, and ongoing management of Building Safety Cases, including Golden Thread documentation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of proactive fire safety management controls, in line with the Council\’s Building Safety Strategy.
- Provide advice and support on fire safety to housing teams, residents, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination of resident engagement strategies, particularly in high-rise and higher-risk buildings.
- Monitor building safety performance and compliance, ensuring that data and reporting are robust and up to date.
Person Specification:
- Demonstrable experience in building safety, fire safety, or housing compliance within a public sector or social housing context.
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Order 2005, and associated statutory guidance.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of engaging with residents on safety matters.
