A primary school is seeking a Resource Base Lead (SEND Unit Class Teacher) to deliver high-quality teaching within a specialist provision on site. This is a predominantly teaching role with a small element of operational leadership, supporting pupils with a range of complex additional needs. You will work with a small cohort of pupils across the early years and KS1 phase, delivering a play-based, communication-focused curriculum aligned with early years principles and continuous provision.
Strong focus on:
- Play-based learning and continuous provision (EYFS ethos)
- Language development and high-quality interactions
- Use of communication boards and visual strategies
Supported by a team of 4 inclusion support staff, includes pupils transitioning from both mainstream and other specialist settings.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, differentiated teaching tailored to high-need SEND pupils
- Facilitate play-based learning and communication development
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice
- Work closely with SENCo and the wider inclusion team
- Provide informal leadership within the provision while remaining primarily classroom-based
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in primary settings (EYFS/KS1 preferred)
- Strong experience working with high-need SEND pupils (ASD, sensory needs)
- Understanding of play-based and communication-led learning approaches
- Experience within a resource base or specialist provision
- Knowledge of EYFS continuous provision models
