As the Hygiene Shift Manager, you will lead the Hygiene team during your shift, taking full ownership of hygiene operations across the site. You will be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards in hygiene, food safety, and sanitation, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, customer standards, and legislation.
Responsibilities- Lead the Hygiene Team during your shift, ensuring the completion of hygiene schedules to the highest standard.
- Maintain and continually improve hygiene, safety, environmental, and quality standards across the site.
- Support Engineering and Production in line setup, deep cleans, and maintenance routines.
- Review and improve hygiene practices, procedures, and equipment in line with customer and legal requirements.
- Train, coach, and develop Hygiene Team Members to build a flexible and skilled workforce.
- Liaise with suppliers to optimise cleaning chemicals and equipment for both effectiveness and user comfort.
- Communicate hygiene requirements and standards across teams and shifts, building strong cross‑functional relationships.
- Manage audit preparation and responses, ensuring corrective actions are completed to standard and on time.
- Present Hygiene Operation documentation to customers, including Chemical Data Sheets and Training Records.
- Assist with planning and delivery of customer audits and visits (announced and unannounced).
- Ensure all hygiene operations comply with Quality and Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Proven experience in a similar hygiene leadership role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong understanding of hygiene, cleaning chemicals, COSHH, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, quality, and technical teams.
- Experience in audit preparation and customer‑facing hygiene documentation.
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Can work 4 on 4 off nights & days.
