Circa / up to £45,000 DOE. Livingston (Hybrid - 4 days office / 1 day home with scope to review as the role evolves). Occasional site visits also required. Our retained client Rosewood Homes & Properties is entering a significant phase of growth and are about to embark on a major new slate of projects delivering vital Social Housing developments across Central Scotland. To support this expansion, they are looking for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join them at their Livingston head office. Working directly with the board and management, your expertise will be crucial in ensuring these projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the high standards we and our communities expect.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Construction Buying
- Source and select vendors to secure the best package regarding quality, price, and delivery for our new housing developments.
- Forecast demand for building materials and track price trends to mitigate commercial risk.
- Assist in developing specifications for equipment and materials.
- Source specialist trades and sub-contractors, including issuing drawings for tenders.
- Operational & Site Support
- Review site requisitions to ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate deliveries between suppliers and active sites.
- Resolve snagging issues with sub-contractors and handle material discrepancies.
- Monitor purchasing budgets and generate weekly reports (e.g., delivery/hire schedules).
- Wider Business Management
- As a key member of a tight-knit team, you will assist with wider business activities including Fleet Management (MOTs, Road Tax) and supporting Marketing efforts (our upcoming website update, new build news).
About You
- Experience: A proven track record in procurement and a strong understanding of construction processes/materials.
- Mobility: A full driving license is essential for periodic site visits.
- Attitude: You are proactive, able to negotiate firmly with suppliers, and willing to turn your hand to wider business tasks when needed.
The Package
- Salary: circa / up to £45,000 per annum (based on experience)
- Holiday: 29 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).
- Work Pattern: Monday to Friday
