Position Title: Fabrication/Welder
Location: Paneltex Ltd, Somerden Road, Hull, HU9 5PE
Reporting to: Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader
Hours of work: 40 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00
Salary: From £14.00 per hour

Job Overview
The role of welder fabricator requires the use of technical drawings and various other specifications and verbal instructions for planning, ensuring quality standards are met within set deadlines, and accomplishing the final product goal.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Make sure all work is done according to Company H&S procedures, and support improvement initiatives.
- Plan production schedules within area of responsibility in collaboration with the department supervisor and/or Manager.
- Liaise with non‑production departments to ensure support is appropriate and effective.
- Adhere to design, production and Health & Safety requirements.
- Support and liaise with the various production supervisors.
- Ensure work carried out within the area of responsibility is effectively inspected and the work orders / inspection sheets are completed and filed.
- Ensure materials allocated within the area of responsibility are stored to prevent deterioration and used appropriately.
- Cutting and joining metal parts for production and/or repair work using tools and various articles such as MIG welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch, etc.
- Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting production requirements using the stated specifications, calculator, measuring devices, drawings, etc.
- Installing or removing any special equipment like paint machine, grinder, power tools and using hand tools.
- Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers.
- Maintaining a record of all the work completed so as to facilitate the accounting activities.
- Provide support for the maintenance of welding equipment, tools and machinery used by the company.
- Ensure the level of workshop hygiene within their area of responsibility is appropriate and maintained.
- Be familiar with the company’s Health & Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities.
- Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures included in the company handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods.
- Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
- Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.
- Effective communication includes speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet deadlines.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety.
- Excellent work ethic and team player.
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
- Flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
Qualifications:
- Basic mathematics skills.
- Basic knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to work with complicated welding tools like ox‑fuel, plasma, mag‑drills, chainsaws, etc.
