Reports to: Group SHEQ Manager

At Panda, safety, compliance and environmental responsibility sit at the heart of how we operate. We are looking for a SHEQ Manager to support our Acumen business across a range of UK sites and projects. Acumen specialises in hazardous waste management, including collection, bulking, transfer and final destination activity. The business also operates an Industrial Services Division, with work including high-pressure water jetting, waste clearance projects and work with organisations such as the Environment Agency.

This is a hands-on, site-based role with UK-wide travel. As SHEQ Manager, you will be visible across operational sites, working closely with site leaders, managers and supervisors to promote a positive safety culture, raise standards and support compliance across safety, health, environmental and quality activity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work with the Group SHEQ Manager to support business objectives and improve SHEQ performance
  • Provide visible safety leadership across sites, including regular site and plant walks
  • Raise, report and support the close-out of hazards, incidents and threats
  • Support sites with accident, incident and near-miss reporting, investigation and corrective actions
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and support site inspections
  • Lead investigation processes, build investigation teams and track actions through to completion
  • Help implement SHEQ policies, procedures, systems and training programmes
  • Monitor accident and incident trends, identifying actions to reduce risk
  • Produce weekly and monthly SHEQ performance reports for the sites you support
  • Support site audits, ISO audits, external surveys and assessments
  • Maintain SHEQ documentation, management systems and document control
  • Support contractor control records and off-taker waste destination documentation
  • Work with operational teams to ensure training records and requirements are kept up to date
  • Support PQQs, tenders and customer SHEQ-related questions
  • Promote Panda’s safety standards, values and expectations with internal and external stakeholders

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident working in operational environments and comfortable being visible on site. You will be able to build strong relationships, challenge where needed and support teams in a practical, positive way. You will ideally have:

  • Experience in a similar SHEQ, health and safety, environmental or compliance role
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, or willingness to progress further
  • Understanding of ISO standards and audit processes
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or operational teams
  • The ability to develop and use meaningful SHEQ KPIs
  • Experience dealing with regulatory bodies, stakeholders or external clients
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Confidence delivering messages clearly and gaining buy-in
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • A full UK driving licence
